Introduction
These days technology has become a part of our life. We can’t imagine a life without Internet and Smartphones in urban areas and even in rural environments. Most of the services like Email, Social Network, E-Commerce, Chats, on demand videos, live streaming etc. are becoming omnipresent and helping human beings to get connected with each other and get their work done efficiently. Behind all these services, there are many integrated technologies working together like Cloud Computing, Artificial Intelligence, Virtual reality, IoT, etc.
Contemporary Technology is the latest technology which we are using nowadays. It has made us our life easier and faster.
Cloud Computing
In Cloud Computing, the word Cloud means internet. Cloud computing refers to Internet based computing. In cloud computing, different services like servers, storage and applications are delivered to an organization’s computers and devices through the internet.
Cloud computing is an on-demand service that has obtained a huge demand in corporate data centers. In cloud services, the data center operates like the Internet and computing resources are accessed and shared a virtual resources in a secure and scalable manner.
In a simple description, cloud computing refers to taking services (“cloud services”) and moving them outside an organizations firewall on shared systems. In the cloud system, applications and services are accessed via the web, instead of a computer hard drive. The services are delivered and used over the Internet where a charge is paid by cloud customer typically on “as-needed, pay-per-use” business model. The benefit is that the cloud infrastructure is managed by the cloud provider, not the individual cloud customer. The examples of cloud computing are GoogleDrive, DropBox, Microsoft Azure, Red Hat, etc.
Services of Cloud Computing
Generally cloud computing services are categorized into three types.
i) Infrastructrue as a Service (IaaS): This service provides the infrastructure like Servers, Operating Systems, Virtual Machines, Networks and Storage on rent basis. Example: Amazon Web service, Microsoft Azure
ii) Platform as a Service (PaaS): This service is used in developing, testing and maintaining of software. Paas is same as IaaS but also provides additional tools like DBMS service. Example: Apprenda, Red Hat OpenShift
iii) Software as a Service(SaaS): This service makes the users connect the applications through the internet on a subscription basis. Example: Google Applications, Salesforce.
Types of cloud computing
Not all clouds are the same and not only type of cloud computing is right for everyone. Several different models, types and services have evolved to help offer the right solution for your needs.
Following are the three different types of cloud computing:
i) Public Cloud: Public Cloud are owned and operated by a third-party cloud service providers, which deliver their computing resources like servers and storage over the Internet. Microsoft Azure is an example of public cloud. With a public cloud, all hardware, software and other supporting infrastructure is owned and managed by the cloud provider. You access these services and manage your account using a web browser.
ii) Private Cloud: A private cloud refers toe cloud computing resources used exclusively by a single business or organization. A private cloud can by physical located on the company’s on-site datacenter. Some companies also pay third party service providers to host their private cloud. A private cloud is one in which the services and infrastructure are maintained on a private network. Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) is the best example of private cloud provider.
iii) Hybrid Cloud: Hybrid cloud combine public and private clouds, bound together by technology that allows data and applications to be shared between them. By allowing data and applications to move between private and public clouds, a hybrid cloud gives your business greater flexibility. more deployment options and helps optimize your existing infrastructure , security and compliance. Microsoft is the best example of Hybrid cloud.
